I do plan to come back to Costa Maya and I will be taking this tour again because even though I am not Mayan or Mexican, I do find Mesoamerican culture and history absolutely fascinating. And according to Ezekiel, all the money goes to locals in the area. The information was interesting, the group was small and the guides were friendly and thoughtful. Would I recommend this tour to anyone? Yes, I certainly would! The price was fair. I’m glad I tried it because I like trying new things. Daniel and Ezekiel stopped at a local fruit stand on the way back to buy us delicious pineapple slices and I got to try a mamey fruit, which was weird not gross but nevertheless weird. His driver Daniel was a fast, but safe driver and got us back to our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare. He explained many things about Mayan culture, architecture, history, as well as the fauna and flora of Chacchoben. Ezekiel was a very friendly and informative guide. In fact, the price of this tour along with tips (and I did tip generously) came up to far less than what the cruise line was asking. After a quick browse on the Internet, I found this tour with lots of great reviews and at almost half the price of the cruise line’s trip. Our cruise ship offered a day trip to the Chacchoben ruins at what I felt was an exorbitant price. I really want him to see Mayan ruins since he and I are both interested in Mesoamerican history and architecture. I visited Chichen Itza ruins 20 years earlier while on a trip to Cancun but my son had never seen them. See our terms and conditions for full details.
